Much snow and short distance to the sea and mountains make the area into a fully fledged holiday destination in summer and winter. The nearest towns to the west is Årdal and Lærdal and Fagernes in the east.

You find most of the service functions on Tyinkrysset, ca. 2 km away. There are shops, petrol stations, accommodations, cafes, restaurants and tourist information. Tyin-Filefjell has a long tradition among outdoor enthusiasts and are once again about to become one of the most popular mountain destinations.

Tyin Panorama has a unique and beautiful location on the site of the old Tyin Mountain Hotel, at the intersection of Highway 53 toward Årdal and the road to Eidsbugarden and Fondsbu. The place is filled with nostalgia and a rich history.
